What is inside the trailer?

The trailer has a sofa, a folding dinette table with seating area, and sleeping accommodations for four people. The unit also has a small bathroom that includes toilet, sink, and small shower/tub, and a galley kitchen that features the original Magic Chef 4-burner stove, a stainless sink, oven, and mini refrigerator/freezer.

How many people can sleep in the trailer and what are the sleeping arrangements?

The trailer has sleeping arrangements for 4 people. A 6ft couch slides out to make a large double bed, and 2 dinette seats slide out to make twin beds. One twin bed is slightly shorter than the other, so we recommend it for a child or small adult. Because the beds must be arranged at night for sleeping and then stowed during the day, we ask that you bring your own sleeping bags.

Which Santa Barbara, California area campgrounds will you tow the trailer to?

In order to guarantee your campsite, you must choose a campground that accepts reservations. Upon request, we will provide you with a list of local area campgrounds that take reservations. Can we camp without electricity, water, and/or sewer hook-ups?

Yes, you can camp without electricity, water, and/or sewer hook-ups (also known as "boondocking"), however, full hook-ups are preferred, and highly recommended. Malfunctions with appliances and trailer systems can easily occur while boondocking due to a low battery status and limited water and propane supplies. Water and power are limited to what is on board. We do NOT provide a back-up power source (generator.)

The trailer has a propane powered refrigerator, freezer and stove. The iPod compatible CD player/receiver operates on battery power (when not hooked up to electricity.) Convenience items such as the A/C, heater, and microwave are powered by electricity are only available with an electricity hook-up.

When boondocking, we encourage you to conserve the trailer's energy and water resources by using the facilities available at the campground whenever possible. Important note regarding boondocking: Santa Barbara Silver Safari is not responsible for any malfunctions of the vehicle whatsoever, due to boondocking. No refunds will be given for boondocking malfunctions.

Does the trailer have to be connected to a sewer hook-up?

No, but we highly recommend it. Travel trailers have two holding tanks; one for grey water (kitchen sink, bathroom sink, and shower waste) and one for black water (toilet waste). The grey water tank holds approximately 30-35 gallons, and the black water tank holds approximately 10 gallons of waste before needing to be dumped. If the trailer is connected to a sewer hook-up then the occupant will have unlimited use of water because the waste water is continually draining into the sewer. If the trailer is without a sewer hook-up, the tanks can fill up FAST if the campground facilities are not used for showers, etc. If a water tanks become full, waste water will back up into the shower. Important note regarding boondocking: We will not empty waste water tanks until after check out. Santa Barbara Silver Safari is not responsible for any malfunctions of the vehicle whatsoever, due to boondocking. No refunds will be given for boondocking malfunctions.

Clean it out. Most likely something is stuck in the drain. Please do not allow food to go into the drain, or anything but toilet paper to go into the toilet as they may create a plug in the holding tank.

Our trailer is a hearty 'ol girl, but like any vintage vehicle, things can go wrong unexpectedly. An instruction manual is on board to help you troubleshoot some minor issues that can arise (re-lighting the water heater, unfolding the beds, operating the vintage windows, trouble-shooting the refrigerator, etc.) If you still need help, our contact information is also on board, and we are just a phone call away.
